Mobile Banking Deposits

Have you ever tried depositing a check through mobile banking? It’s not only convenient, but also easy and timesaving!

Here are some step-by-step instructions on how to upload a check through your phone, and the mobile banking app.

  • First, open the Milestones FCU App. You can find it in the App store or Google Play by searching Lewiston Municipal FCU. (We are currently waiting on vendors for the final App name change update, and when it’s ready to roll out will let you know!) Enter username and password. (1)
  • Select the three-bar menu option in top left-hand corner of the App. (2)
  • Select Mobile Deposit in the left-hand dropdown, (3), then choose the account (4) where you’d like to deposit your check. Not seeing the right account options when you select Choose Account? If you are on more than one account, you may have to change which account you are accessing at that time. See bnext(5).
  • If you want to change the main account you are depositing into, select Switch Member Account (5).Then select the member account you which to access. (4)
  • Choose the sub-account where you’d like to deposit funds into, (6) the amount, (6) and sign (endorse) the back of the check as follows: For e-deposit only to: MFCU Account No. _____ date xx/xx/xxxx.

Have you received a postcard or letter similar to these examples?

At first glance it may appear that they were sent to you by the credit union, but they’re from companies who are trying to gain your trust by referring to your new loan with the credit union. They’re the paper equivalent of email spam!

Curious about how these companies do this?

The recording of mortgages / home equity lines of credit (HELOCs) with any Registry of Deeds is public information and those companies that monitor the Registry recordings for new filings in order to target consumers to trick them into using their services.

Postcards and letters have been mailed to some members referencing a recently closed mortgage with “MILESTONE FEDERAL CREDIT UNION”, or “RESPONSE NEEDED, SECOND NOTICE” in the body of the letter or postcard.

The postcard indicates an urgency to call the provided number to discuss, and the letter indicates a response is needed to purchase mortgage protection insurance. These postcards and letters are NOT from Milestones Federal Credit Union, and we are encouraging members not to call the number listed on the postcard.

These postal communications, similar to the ones shown above, are considered spam and can be safely ignored. If you are still unsure if what you’ve received is considered spam, you can also look for:

  • An unfamiliar company name listed. For example; the yellow postcard includes “All information provided by [Other Company Name] loan information not provided by MILESTONE FEDERAL CREDIT UNION” on the mail communication”. Milestones Federal Credit Union will clearly state if the mail is coming from the credit union.
  • A mortgage ID number or other account number on the document. Milestones Federal Credit Union takes member privacy seriously and would never show any personal information on a postcard or a letter that isn’t directly from the credit union with our Logo.
  • An incorrect phone number listed. Cross reference the number listed on the postcard or letter with the credit union phone number: (207) 783-3991.
  • No affiliation. The letter or postcard may also have this wording “Not affiliated with or sponsored by MILESTONE FEDERAL CREDIT UNION; solicitation not authorized by and loan information not provided by MILESTONE FEDERAL CREDIT UNION.”

We make it easy to open a youth* savings account by making the initial deposit!

$5 is the minimum amount required to open an account, along with identification. The $5 remains yours (or theirs) to keep! The account can be opened through the drive-thru, in person, USPS, or a combination of the above and online communication. *Youth = under age 18.

Opening a savings account for a family member can help secure their financial future before they have begun to walk, learn the A,B,C’s or realize the importance of saving. We have a free coin sorter on-site! Not only does this create an opportunity for learning about coin values and counting, it can help begin a lifelong love of savings.

Did you know we also have a Little Free Library on-site? You, your little one(s), big one(s), family member(s) and friends may select as many books as you’d like, as often as you’d like, and when you’re finished reading them, simply return the book(s) or pay them forward!
